The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations recognise the importance of safe physical and online environments to promote the safety and wellbeing of all children. All IHC Educators have the responsibility to ensure children are protected of harm when and if they engage in digital technologies. Understanding the risks that each child may face online and setting boundaries with the assistance of the family and children is essential for ensuring the appropriate safeguards have been put in place. Where possible, we encourage educational activities that don’t rely on online devices during the session of care. This helps reduce cyber risks and supports greater engagement in hands-on learning, play, and excursions.

Social Media Changes

As of 10 December 2025, Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, Twitch, X and YouTube are required to take reasonable steps to prevent Australians under 16 from having accounts on their platforms. Under-16s are still allowed to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account.
